I used to think that the dumbest accident involving METRORail was the one, back in the days when they were still testing the system, where two railroad employees drove up to the crossing gates, raised them up, and proceeded to drive onto the tracks SMACK! in front of the train.
I was wrong.
This is the dumbest accident involving METRORail. Yesterday, folks leaving their offices downtown got to experience a different sort of gridlock, as people tried to find ways around the intersection of Main St and St. Joseph Parkway, which was closed "...after a Metro bus and a light rail train collided near Metro headquarters downtown."
Yes, you read. that. right. A METRORail train and a METRO bus collided, downtown. And, not just anywhere downtown, but right in front of freakin' METRO HQ! It seems the bus driver, heading westbound on St. Joseph, ran a red light, and collided with the northbound train.
Can you say "bus driver gonna be lookin' for work soon"?
