I am going to go out on a limb and suggest that maybe someone had their thumbs up there butt, based on this report from FOXNews.com titled: No Thumbprint, No Check-Cashing, Bank Told Armless Man.
A Florida man born without arms says a Tampa bank would not let him cash a check because he couldn't provide a thumbprint.
Now, this should have been a no-brainer: no arms, no hands. No hands, no thumbs. No thumbs, no thumbprints. Makes sense, non?
Apparently, this seemingly simple logical progression was beyond the mental capabilities of the teller. And her bosses.
What may have been most telling, however, was the reaction of bank officials that their actions were a violation of federal law (the Americans with Disabilities Act):
"Whatever."
And to think, this is the industry our tax $$$ (via TARP) saved.
(*) Yes, I know the title is a little, let us say, over dramatic. that's just how I roll, sometimes.
