After much speculation as to the future of the scandal-plagued Tour de France, rumors are floating that the whole operation is about to be purchased by Vince McMahon, head of the WWE.
"It is a perfect fit with the portfolio of professional Sports Entertainment that WWE offers," noted his wife Linda McMahon. "Besides that, our son Shane has proven himself utterly ineffective at managing a wrestling promotion, and we have to find something for him to do."
Mr. McMahon has not yet indicated how he will deal with the recent doping incidents that have hit the Tour, but he has indicated that drug use "has no place in Sports Entertainment", and in addition he will be replacing the current medical staff with doctors of his own choosing.
Word is that the Tour will be renamed to GBE (Global Bicycling Entertainment), effective with the start of the new season. This prompted one young fan of Lance Armstrong to inquire "He be GBE?"
