Following the attempted assassination of the Vice President on his recent trip to Afghanistan, the President laid out his new strategy to secure victory over the Taliban: diplomacy. Following is an excerpt from the invitation that was sent to Mullah Mohammed Omar:

...The honor of your presence is hereby requested at my ranch in Crawford, for a friendly discussion on how to end the current conflict between our two peoples. During your stay, you will also get to experience our unique brand of American hospitality: some one-on-one face time with Vice President Dick Cheney, as he takes you on a once-in-a-lifetime hunt.

Sources close to the Administration say that, if they are successful in resolving the Afghan conflict through these face-to-face talks, a similar invitation will be issued to Muqtada al-Sadr and the factional leaders in Iraq, as well as the leaders of other troublesome spots around the world such as Iran, North Korea, Venezuela, and the US Congress.
