Oh good grief, it seems that the blogosphere isn't the only place in a tizzy over the whole Gerald Ford thing, as the whole political space reverberates with recriminations left and right, and folks with far too much time on their hands are spinning wildly in their chairs, frantically freaking out.
The Houston Chronicle is reporting the following controversies surrounding Mr. Ford's passing:
- First off, we have the Ford-Woodward interview, which is now being called a "previously unreported condemnation" by Ford.
- Next, Sen. Reid and Durbin (the top Democrats) are going to be out on a 'fact-finding' mission in Latin America (where exactly in the Americas do they speak Latin, outside of maybe some high school classrooms?), and will be returning too late for the memorial service, arousing the ire of some conservative-leaning
wingnuts critics.
- Last, but not least, some in the Ford camp (I didn't know he still had a camp) aren't happy with Dubya, because it took him over 24 hours to declare a public day of mourning for Ford; when Reagan passed, apparently the announcement came right away. (Of course, that was before the voters spoke this past November, and I suspect the administration was just taking their time, weighing all the options carefully, before making an announcement.)
Give it a rest, folks -- in the words of that great African American named King (Rodney, that is), "Can't we all just get along?"
Well?
