Election Day coverage from etee2k.net: The Day After
I wake up this morning, and take care of the really important stuff first: syncing my iPod, and picking up the latest from rushlimbaugh.com. And, of course, I check on the election results.
Well, it looks like the Dems won. They had to effectively dis-enfranchise over half the voters in CD22, resorting to legal trickery and their own form of voter intimidation, but they made it. For the next two years, I (and many like me) will NOT be represented in Congress. Because, no matter what that little yellow bastard (and I am not using "yellow" in terms of race, here: it is a reference to his cowardice) may say or think, he does NOT reporesent us. It is now time to start preparing to throw his sorry, cowardly liberal butt out of Congress in 2008. Unless, of course, he and Speaker PelosiEATSBABIES! manage to re-write the laws to keep Republican candidates off the ballots in the future. Yes, Speaker PelosiEATSBABIES! - because, as expected, the Dems were successful in seizing control of the House (the control of the Senate is still up for grabs.)
And, I would not put it past them to try it.
Now, for the not-so-bad news. Lampson mentioned that he had noticed a shift toward the Dems in Texas (I guess it helps when you use legal machinations to keep your opponent off the ballot, eh?)
Well, if it is, it is very slight - so slight as to be, well, almost unnoticeable. Looking at the statewide races, it is pretty much a clean sweep for the GOP, with (at this time) only one position on the State Board of Education and one position on the 3rd Court of Appeals going to Democrats. And in the matter of the House, it appears the GOP still maintains a sizeable GOP majority. Yes, Lampson, that is the extent of the damage the Democrat tsunami did in the state of Texas.
I will post my wrap-up and "final thoughts" later today, or early tomorrow.
